Shadow Wall was developed as part of a Design-Build Advanced Studio at the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture in New York, focused on the design and construction of a masonry sculpture garden incorporating historic gargoyles from the City College campus.

The proposal organizes the space as a continuous sequence that gradually reveals the gargoyles, culminating in a central gathering space where all sculptures can be viewed simultaneously. Two entrance corridors frame the first gargoyles and guide visitors through the project, creating a focused and immersive experience. The design explores the interaction between light, shadow, and masonry construction through a perforated wall that filters natural light and projects changing patterns onto the surrounding surfaces. This exploration is reinforced by a zigzag masonry wall, whose geometry generates rich shadows, texture, and spatial depth throughout the day.

The project was selected as one of the five finalists in the studio competition. Ultimately, two proposals — Gallery Wall and Trilogy — were chosen for construction and were built on campus with the participation of students and professional masons.
